Aaand done with Bast’s portrait.
Once I finished the hieroglyphs (which was the final touch to this illustration), it felt like a pressure on the back of my head was lifted and I began to feel woozy for about 5 minutes or so. After I had finished my signature, I was about to save but then, without a second thought, I felt this overwhelming need to write her name. I wanted it to be special, so I looked up the hieroglyphs (please correct me if I am wrong. I did my best to sketch it out accurately).
For her headdress, I made the beads pink pearls which I know often represents a bride and purity but I felt like the contrast would look beautiful. Plus for some reason, pink pearls just came into my mind and I went with it. The drops and ankh are tiger’s eye. This is a stone I am very very fond of. It is a stone given to me at a very young age and I was fascinated by the layers of colour it has. Not to mention, this stone often represents protection which is very suiting for Bast.
Now as for her skin tone, I didn’t want to go super dark nor did I want to go super light. I felt it’d be most appropriate to give her this beautiful, freckled, bronze/olive tone.
Oh my, I feel tired now….
I was thinking of drawing Pakhet (I don’t know if that is her proper name or not) and Sekhmet as well.
